Reddies dominate match

SOME much-needed form was produced by the Warwick Credit Union Redbacks to systematically demolish a lacklustre Dalby Swans outfit on Saturday.

Playing for the Matthew Stanley Foundation Cup the Reddies produced a scoreline of 20.21 (141) to defeat Dalby 4.3. (27).

The charity fundraiser was proudly sponsored by Steele's Bakery and Cafe again this season and, from the start of the game through to the final siren, the WCU Redbacks dominated every position on the field.

The Swans were behind the eight ball from the beginning, having to borrow three of the Reddies players to make up numbers.

Andrew Fidge, Liam Keating and U16 player Josh Reid moved camp for the day and were among the Swans better players.

Keating kicked a goal for the Swans, Reid in his senior debut was outstanding and Fidge was good support for the Swans forward six.

Thye Clarkson, Clinton McErvale and Brendan Iles were far too classy for any opposition that came their way and stop-gap forward Dale Randall excelled with good leading and great ground play.

The WCU Redbacks' use of their rotations with three big men - Alex Cutmore, Dennis Ganly and Steve Martin - controlled the ruck play to perfection and didn't give their respective opponents a look in at any time in the game.

Dalby, to their credit, played the game out to the finish and never shirked an issue, but they were absolutely outclassed by a team wanting to get back on the winning list and keep the slightest glimmer of hope for a finals berth open.

A good day was had by all both on and off the field and a vote of thanks must go out to Gayle and Brad Steele for their tremendous support.
