Reds end a dreadful rugby season
RUGBY UNION: Thankfully another season of Reds' misery is finally over.
Local scrummaging legend Greg Holmes' farewell party was another letdown in a year that's provided plenty of pain.
The Reds had a dreadful season and that's all that needs to be said.
The finals now loom and that's an exciting prospect.
The Brumbies are Australian rugby's only hope and that's really quite sad. They are a battling, one- dimensional team that should get wiped off the park by an all-action, free-running, all-round superior Highlanders side. My predictions are usually rubbish so who knows what will happen.
The two New Zealand derbies last weekend proved once again their dominance.
They were classic encounters, with Test match intensity.
Unfortunately for the Kiwis three of their teams have to travel due to the silly conference system with the Crusaders and the Chiefs having to go to South Africa.
The Hurricanes commanded title-favouritism with their win in Christchurch.
Hopefully for the sake of us viewers it will be an all New Zealand final four. Go the Kiwis.
