Remembering the fallen

NEXT Wednesday the Allora community will come together to remember and pay special tribute to the men and women who served their country in many theatres of war.

Allora's Anzac Day is a special event in our community's calendar, as it is nationally, and April 25 will again provide an opportunity for everyone to roll up and express their respect.

The Allora Anzac Day Commemoration Committee invites the community to take part in Allora's Anzac Day services to commemorate the sacrifices made by the fallen in all wars and to remember those who fought for peace and freedom.

The Anzac Day program will commence at 5.30am with the Dawn Service at Allora's Memorial Park. This will be followed by a "gunfire breakfast" with all attending the Dawn Service invited. The breakfast, tea and coffee fee is just $5.

The Anzac Day program also includes a 9.30am service at the Allora Cemetery.

The Allora Anzac Day Commemoration Service will be held at 11.00am, also in the Warwick St Memorial Park.

This will be followed by a luncheon in the RSL Hall. All members of the community are very welcome, costs are $5.00 adults, $2.00 children.

This year, entertainment will be provided from lunch time by local Allora band Wild Spurs, with all community members invited to join in a great afternoon of remembrance and enjoyment.

Those wishing to take part in the Anzac Day march are requested to be assembled at the Allora Library to commence at 10.45am sharp.

The RSL requests that Ex-Service personnel wear medals and they extend an invitation to their families, as well as public bodies, to join them in the procession.
