Reserve grade finishes with a six

CRITERION batsman James Richards won the game in grand style at Mayhew Oval yesterday with a six over mid wicket.

With both teams not fielding full teams, Criterion was on top early to dismiss Carey’s Meateors for 45.

Dave Duroux took 4-13 off six overs and Cameron Charles 2-30 off five overs.

Richards took the other wicket to fall.

In the game at the Queen’s Park synthetic, Sovereign Animals scored 146 against Killarney, Clayton Smith top scoring with 94.

Tony Morrisey scored 15 but his innings will be remembered as he hit a bouncing four into a passing utility. Luckily, the ball was returned.

Andrew Boal was the best of the Killarney bowlers with 2-9 off two overs in an innings where the fieldsmen dropped seven catches.

Killarney scored the winning runs for the loss of five wickets, Andrew Vietheer hitting 40 and Kevin Blake 39.

The final round of reserve grade fixtures will be played this weekend before the second and third-placed teams meet in a semi-final for the right to play in the grand final.
