Couple powerless as fire destroys Western Downs home

A HOUSE has been destroyed by fire south-west of Miles on the Western Downs.
Emergency services were called to the blaze on Yellowstone Rd about 35km from Miles at 12.20pm today.
They arrived to find the single-storey timber house in flames and were unable to save the property.
A 69-year-old man and his 59-year-old wife, who were the caretakers at the property, were not injured in the incident.
Police said the house was insured.
Detectives from Roma and Queensland Fire and Rescue Service investigators will head to the site this afternoon to investigate the cause of the blaze.
