Residents praise fast action on a dodgy road
ROSENTHAL Heights residents are praising the quick work of the Southern Downs Regional Council in repairing a dangerous stretch of road.
The narrow stretch of Warner St was the focus of a story in the Daily News on December 18.
Resident Bob Keogh, who reported the issue to the Daily News, said the council was on site within a week of the story being published.
"The crews started on Christmas Eve and finished on New Year's Eve," he said.
"The road was dangerous and thankfully council got onto it straight away."
"They cleaned it up over the hill near Washpool Rd - it's much safer."
Mr Keogh said there was a very positive feeling towards council among residents in the area.
"I've heard quite a lot of good comments from neighbours," he said.
"Council did an excellent job, we're very happy with the good service."
Southern Downs Regional Council manager of maintenance works Chris Whitaker said council road crews took pride in their work.
"Council road crews are pleased that Warner St residents are happy with the repair work," he said.
Mr Keogh said while the road was "good at present", it would need some work done in the future.
"The road needs to be widened and re-surfaced eventually," he said.
"It would be nice to have it fully fixed down the track."
Mr Whitaker said residents were encouraged to report accurate road information to council.
"As there is over 3000km of sealed and unsealed roads within the Southern Downs Regional Council area, it is difficult for council road inspectors to check all roads on a daily basis," he said.
