Fire Emergency Services warn residents to check alarms
QUEENSLAND Fire Emergency Services have warned Warwick residents to be vigilant and proactive when it comes to their household smoke alarms.
Warwick Fire Station officer Dennis Burton said residents should install photoelectric smoke alarms to protect their homes and families.
"They give a better warning for more types of fires than any other alarm," he said.
"They are best suited to detect the most common domestic fires and they're also not as prone to go off for burnt toast."
Mr Burton said if your home was built after 1997, you should have two 40 volt hard-wire smoke alarms installed.
"If people in the Warwick area are unsure about their smoke alarms we can come out to your house and have a look at your home to make sure it's safe."
