REVEALED: Huge new retirement resort will have cinema, pool

A LUXURIOUS lifestyle resort with 90 houses, a swimming pool, gym and men's shed could make Stanthorpe a retirement destination like no other, with preliminary designs now finalised.

A development application outlining detailed plans for a new retirement village on Torrisi Terrace has been registered with Southern Downs Regional Council.

Surfer's Paradise developer JVY is behind the impressive facility, which will include 72 individual single-storey homes and 18 duplex dwellings.

There will also be a two communal recreational areas, barbecues, a cinema, community gardens and a caravan park.

"The target market for the development is those typically 60 years and over who are able bodied but looking to downsize their current housing situation," a development report states.

If approved, the retirement village will be constructed across five stages.

The report outlines how the facility aims to fill a demand for quality retirement options.

"The current growth in over 50's lifestyle communities is supported by a demand for specifically designed facilities and homes for the over 50's," the report states.
