REVEALED: Inglewood woman is million dollar lotto winner
FIVE days after her winning numbers were drawn, an Inglewood woman has been revealed as the winner of the $1 million prize from last week's Wednesday Gold Lotto.
The retired woman was one of only two division one winners nationally in the Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw.
When a Golden Casket official made contact with the winner yesterday to deliver the news, she had no idea she was the region's newest millionaire.
"That's wonderful! Terrific,” she said.
"I had heard there had was a million-dollar win. I was wondering if that was me.
"When I went to pick up the phone just now I thought 'oh, another nuisance call'.
"Tell you what - I do need it! It's come at a good time.”
The regular player explained her marked System 8 entry consisted of numbers she had been playing for years.
"We've just kept the same ones over the years. I kept saying we should change but then my husband said 'no, no, no, we'll win one day',” she said. "I'll have to break the news to him and I'm sure we'll both be very happy.”
Sutto's Inglewood Newsagency owner Trish Christy said she was pleased the winner had been found.
"It's fantastic news! It's the first division one winning entry we've sold. It's been busy in here as word had spread around town that we've had a win and everyone was wanting to know who it could be,” she said.
"It makes your job feel worthwhile to know you've helped someone become a millionaire.”
