Revived race day success
THE thundering of stampeding hooves was a welcome sound at the Warwick Turf Club on Saturday.
In a joint initiative between the turf club and the Warwick RSL Services and Citizens Memorial Club, the Long Tan Cup was revived at the RSL Memorial Club Races.
Turf club committee member Nick Inmon said it had been a fantastic day.
"The weather was spot on, the track conditions were good and the races were great," he said. "We had about 500 people turn up which was a great result.
"We also really appreciate the support of the RSL Memorial Club."
RSL club secretary Jo Schwenke said it seemed appropriate for the club to sponsor the event.
"It is wonderful to be involved in the revival of the Long Tan Cup and we are already looking forward to next year," she said.
Patron Karla Grant said it was good to see the race day revived.
"The revival has been good and the race calendar will only benefit from it," she said.
