Rider found dead after bike crash

POLICE are calling for witnesses after a 56-year-old Spring Creek man was killed in a motorbike accident north of Warwick at the weekend.

Warwick police shift supervisor Sergeant Matt Pike said a Toolburra resident was out walking when they found the man in a culvert beside the Warwick-Allora Rd near the intersection of Evans Rd.

The man was dead when the resident found him.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 5.07pm on Saturday.

"It does appear he was there for some time before he was located," Sgt Pike said.

Initial investigations indicate the motorcycle left the roadway and travelled into a culvert before crashing.

Sgt Pike said the man was riding north on a 1200cc Kawasaki motorcycle when the crash occurred.

"There is an S-bend in the road and he has failed to take that bend," he said.

"We are looking at whether (or not) excessive speed was a contributing factor."

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
