A BIT of mud failed to stop a strong group of showjumpers from leaping to new heights at the Warwick Showgrounds at the weekend.

More than 30 riders competed to raise money for Warwick Showgirl entrant Amy Bradfield on Saturday.

Riders competed in various events from the smaller 30cm jumps up to the highest at 1.1m.

Organiser Christine Bradfield the day was good practice for riders and their horses ahead of the show season.

"Not only is it a competition, it's also a training day," she said.

"If somebody needs help, one of the more experienced riders can help them out."

Riders travelled from near and far for the event.

Among the competitors was Northern Territory rider Mac Beasy.

The 13-year-old travelled from Humpty Doo to ride at the event.

"I've travelled to help ride some horses," he said.

"I've been riding since I was about four."

Champion rider Merrick Ubank also competed at the event.

Amy said she was thankful for the riders who braved the weather to support her.

"A lot of people have used the day as a chance to bring young horses out," she said.

"I can't wait to see what's in store for the coming year."

The showgirl entrant is a keen rider herself, and was on hand to offer words of support to riders.

Riders will now turn their attention to the T-Shirt Hack Day at the Warwick Showgrounds on Saturday.

There is also a two day Australia Day weekend showjumping event in Toowoomba.
