Almost 100 riders hack it for Show Society's T-Shirt Day
WARWICK Showgrounds hosted close to 100 riders on Saturday for the Warwick Show Society T-Shirt Hack Day.
The event is a major fundraiser for the Warwick Show and a relaxed start to the riding year.
Warwick Show chief steward Sue Bondfield said the annual event was a chance for young riders to warm up before the show season.
Mrs Bondfield said the event attracted riders from across southern Queensland and northern New South Wales, some of whom would head to the Sydney Royal Show in March.
"It's a good start to the year for anyone with young or green horses to get some training in before shows," Mrs Bondfield said.
"This is our fourth one and we've had really good attendance this year.
"The sponsors have been incredible because without them we wouldn't be able to go ahead.
"All of the money raised goes toward the ring program at the show, such as buying the ribbons and trophies for riders."
Warwick Show Ambassador Tammy Bondfield said a fair bit of work went into ensuring the day was relaxed and well run.
"The program is usually done early because I've run it for a few years now," Ms Bondfield said.
"I started around November and then it was just getting the word out on Facebook and at local saddleries and getting sponsors.
"It's really casual - it's just a low-key fun day to come out and bring your horses.
"There is judging but there's no pressure and no big atmosphere so it's a great start to the season."
