Right amount of rain

YOU couldn't paint grass greener than the stuff growing at Morgan Park, and for good reason.

The members of the Warwick Polocrosse Association have been busily manicuring the seven fields in the lead up to next week's Barastoc Polocrosse National Championships.

President Les Fraser said the pitches were in fine form and the showers forecast this week would only enhance them.

"The fields are in good order," Mr Fraser said.

"The whole seven fields have been watered and are in excellent condition.

"We could handle an inch of rain though, it would certainly freshen the place up."

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Peter Otto said the region could expect a drizzly week this week.

"(Today) should see some scattered showers around and maybe some isolated storms (this afternoon)," Mr Otto said.

Tuesday is predicted to be the wettest day of the week with more showers and possible patchy rain periods.

Storms are a possibility late tomorrow afternoon, with 30mm of rain likely.

"Wednesday the upper troughs will move west, but there will still be some isolated showers and maybe even storms," Mr Otto said.

Mr Fraser said he hoped the clouds would move on after the weekend.

"A bit of natural rain wouldn't go astray this week, but we don't want rain next week for the competition," Mr Fraser said.
