Riverwalk lighting poses risk
TIMES are still dark along the popular Queen's Park Riverwalk, more than a year since floods wreaked havoc in the area.
A number of lights have been out since last January, igniting safety concerns.
Councillor Ross Bartley said he had been contacted by circuit users and was working with council engineers to try to get the issue resolved.
"I believe it is a problem and the people who have contacted me believe it is a safety concern," he said.
"And now heading into winter, people are conscious that they would still like to walk after work and it is only going to get darker."
Southern Downs Regional Council parks supervisor David Webster said the lights had been out since the floods, and work would be completed upon receipt of flood funding.
Mr Webster said the area in question needed work which included replacement light poles, switchboards, lights and cables.
He estimates the work will cost $30,000 and take 10 weeks to complete.
