Rob Messenger endorsed to run for Clive Palmer's UAP

FORMER state MP Rob Messenger will have another stab at politics, this time round running for Clive Palmer's United Australia Party.

Mr Palmer announced this morning Mr Messenger had been endorsed as the UAP's first federal candidate.

He will run for the central Queensland seat at the September 14 federal election.

"Rob Messenger is an outstanding family man and candidate who is highly experienced and credentialed to stand as the United Australia Party candidate for Hinkler," he said.

Mr Palmer will run for the Sunshine Coast seat of Fairfax in his contest to be the next Prime Minister.

Mr Messenger, who helped expose the Dr Jayant Patel saga, threw his support behind the mining magnate.

"You only need to look at Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott to know something is wrong with federal politics today," he said.

"Right now the nation as a whole desperately needs someone with integrity and expertise that can lead us out of this economic crisis and create community wealth and jobs."

Mr Messenger claimed Mr Palmer "insisted" if he won the seat of Hinkler, his top priority should be for his Fraser Coast, Hervey Bay and Bundaberg constituents.

Mr Palmer told media this morning he would announce tomorrow who would run for the Sunshine Coast based of Fisher.
