Robert Lui will play first game in 12 months

COWBOYS halfback Robert Lui will play his first game in almost 12 months after he was named as the No.7 for his team's trial against Brisbane in Mt Isa on Saturday.

After playing in round one last year, Lui was banned by the NRL for the rest of last season after assaulting his girlfriend following Mad Monday drinks in 2011 at his old club the Wests Tigers.

He was then placed on a two-year good behaviour bond and fined $2000 in April last year.

"It's a credit to him - he stuck to it and worked very hard and I'm sure he's keen to play a bit of football," Cowboys coach Neil Henry said.

Back-rower Tariq Sims will also play his first game since breaking his leg against Penrith in May last year. And England international Scott Moore will get the first chance to impress at hooker.

The other main contenders for round one - Anthony Mitchell, Ray Thompson and Rory Kostjasyn - are still sidelined following off-season shoulder surgeries.
