Robyn’s talent takes the cake

THE smile on a bride's face as she cuts the cake is the icing on top for Mount Molar cake-maker Robyn Bargh.

After three years of making cakes for friends and family the cake studio has been opened for business - Cakes By Robyn A.

"It's now a passion of mine and I'm addicted to being creative with designs," Robyn said.

"It's very much an art."

Robyn's new cake studio on her Mount Molar property has become the perfect place for her to create her delicious works of art.

For the mother-of-two life is getting busier, creating up to three cakes a week for weddings, engagements, birthdays, christenings and special occasions.

"Putting the cakes together to create masterpieces for the bride or the birthday person is just another highlight of my day," Robyn said.

"To be able to design a cake that the bride has dreamt of makes me feel incredible that I can be a part of so many people's special day; it's a wonderful feeling."

While her knack is for novelty cakes, Robyn said she loves designing and decorating wedding cakes.

"Whether it be vintage, contemporary, modern or just simple and sweet I can make your dream a reality and you can eat it," she said.

"Everyone's ideas are so different and it shows on each cake with brides that may wish to have a their wedding dress designed into their cake or someone's hobby as a theme on a cake.

Robyn's many cake designs have ranged from flowery wedding cakes to the colourful and even fun kids themed birthday cakes.

According to Robyn, a cake should always take more than a day to complete.

"For the time and effort you put into a cake, the fondant covering and the client's decorations most are so intricate, and make flowers or figurines as cake toppers. Work takes time and my quality of the work shows in my cakes," she said.

Cakes are available in a variety of flavours and including mud cakes, fruitcakes, gluten and dairy free cakes and the good old sponge cake.

Robyn offers more than just her cake skills to design your cake - she also co-ordinates with venues with setting up of cakes on the day and the delivery of your cake to the venue.

"I do the background work for the bride or client for that special occasion cake as it's one less stress for them to be worrying about.

To get the cake to the exact tastes of her clients, Robyn offers consultations in her studio seven days a week by appointment.

"A month in advance is always appreciated, with consultations and decorating of cakes, I always make sure everyone feels special as a cake can mean so much to someone," she said.

Robyn loves to handcraft flowers for her cake designs - a process which can take hours.
