THERE was plenty of laughter as John Skinner spoke on the history of rodeos when 100 people from the Chevrolet club rolled into the Australian Rodeo Heritage Centre this week.
They arrived in their cars from all eras, which are in the Warwick area for a week and impressed many at the Show and Shine at Leslie Park on Sunday.
The crowd were in the stand at the northern end of the indoor rodeo arena as American roper Nate Eichhorn and APRA national finalist Allan Flood demonstrated roping.
Inside the arena, the bull riders tested their abilities against six bulls from the Ross Hamilton string.
One task of the two clowns was to urge the bulls to leave the arena after each ride.
There were cheers when Brodie Frizzell, who was dressed in red, ran in front of one Brahman bull that immediately chased the clown out of the arena.
The clown won the race for the gate hands-down and was over the fence in a split second.
Mr Skinner said he had a huge response from the Chevrolet club crowd.
"They were a bunch of happy people and easy to work with," he said.
"Bull riders Dion Doro, Matthew Young and Kyle Hamilton put on a good show on the young bulls.
"Nate enthralled the crowd with his quality rope tricks which aren't often seen in Australia."
The centre is open to the public on week days.
