Toogoom 'rookie' nominated best personal trainer award

WHILE Mark Amphlett has been a personal trainer for the past 12 years he is only still a "rookie" - but a talented one.

The Toogoom man was one of only seven instructors across the country to be nominated for the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers "Rookie of the Year Award".

While he missed out on winning the gong at the awards ceremony on Friday, he is happy his work as a campus director for AIPT was recognised at all.

A co-manager at Pialba's Anytime Fitness, Mark said fitness had been a passion since his younger adult years.

"I loved sports when I was at school, but then when I became unfit after I left I decided to do something about it," he said.

"Now fitness is my biggest passion and I think exercise is addictive."

Mark moved up to the area from Adelaide at the beginning of the year in the search of better weather.

"There's no excuse for people not to exercise everyday with all the sunny days," he said.
