BRENT Osborne had a new career high in rugby league last season - Queensland Outback selection.

Osborne was captain- coach and halfback for the Border Bushrangers team that won the South West Country trials at Miles, the first Border win in recent years.

He played five-eighth and was captain for the winning South West Country team in the Outback Challenge in Ilfracombe and was selected in the Queensland Outback team.

The Queensland team went down to a selection from north Queensland in an NRL curtain raiser in Cairns in July.

"It was unreal to play for Queensland and be in camp with the team for four days,” he said.

At club level, Osborne was captain-coach as Inglewood won the Border Rugby League premiership.

He scored the most tries in the league, 23, and was Border Post/Daily News BRL Player of the Year.

Osborne also played some cricket for the Inglewood Roos in the 2016-2017 season.

He will be one of 11 monthly winners to be honoured at the annual awards dinner on February 19 at the Warwick RSL Club.
