Roosters rise to occasion in the big game

RUGBY LEAGUE: After trailing 24-0 after 25 minutes of the Patron's Cup final on Saturday, Inglewood Roosters won 46-40 against Tenterfield.

The game was the first of the day in the double header at Stanthorpe on a day all clubs supported the RizeUp promotion to support victims of domestic violence.

Five-eighth Shane Hooker, a former Queensland Country rugby union fullback, was devastating in attack for Inglewood and set up the winning try for fullback Brent Hearne after the score of 40-all just before fulltime.

Hearne converted the try on fulltime to cap a great game.

Hooker Wayne Brown was the best for Tenterfield.

The Patron's Shield win secured two valuable competition points for an Inglewood side which only has to beat bottom two Stanthorpe and Killarney in the final fortnight of the season to secure the minor premiership and home ground advantage for the grand final.
