Rosari bred horse a starter in Magic Millions on Saturday
RACING: Gerard and Jan Nolan from Gladfield have one win from one start for Rosari Farm-bred horses in the Magic Millions two-year-old race at the Gold Coast and have their second starter, Colosimo, tomorrow.
They sold Mirror Mirror for $120,000 at the Magic Millions Sale in 2005 to Strawberry Hill Stud and the horse won the two-year-old classic the next year.
Last year, they sold Colosimo for $55,000 to Aquis Farm and the filly has already won $49,300 prize money. In three starts, Colosimo has wins at Gold Coast and Eagle Farm.
"We only sell six or eight yearlings a year and it is an achievement to get a horse in the Magic Millions two-year-old race,” Gerard said.
Gerard and Jan and family members will be at the races tomorrow to watch a horse they bred race during the richest race meeting in the land.
Yesterday, they sold a colt for $240,000 on day 2 of the Magic Millions Sales. The colt from Rosari, which made $240,000 was by Not A Single Doubt out of New Zealand bred mare Quack It.
The successful buyer was Mark Newnham Racing.
After selling a half-sister of Capitalist for $300,000 on Wednesday, Daandine Stud at Goomburra sold a colt yesterday for $120,000. The colt was by I Am Invincible out of the mare Quality Impulse and sold to Stanley Chin Racing.
Lot 368, a colt by Eurozone out of Red Rhonda, was offered by Nick and Mary Nolan, Noralla, Gladfield, and sold for $210,000 to Hong Kong interests.
Six thoroughbred studs from the Warwick area have horses in the Magic Millions Sale,which run till Tuesday.
Former Warwick and now Toowoomba trainer Michael Nolan will start Jumbo Prince in the Magic Millions QTIS Open Handicap over 1300m tomorrow. Jumbo Prince has gate 14.
