Rose City arrest nabs commission's key witness
A MAN believed to be a key witness at the Royal Commission into Institutional Child Sexual Abuse has been arrested in Warwick.
The 52-year-old man had been on the run after he had failed to appear at a hearing of the royal commission.
A warrant had been issued for his arrest after he had failed to provide evidence to the royal commission late in February.
After initially providing police with false details, Warwick police identified him as a key witness and he was arrested under warrant and taken into custody.
The man arrested is believed to be Chris Fotis, a former teacher at Sydney's Knox Grammar School, currently under investigation for alleged sexual abuse perpetrated on its grounds.
The arrest took place at 8.55pm on Lyons St on Wednesday last week.
Australian Federal Police officers reportedly collected the man on Friday and extradited him to Sydney to face the Royal Commission.
It is believed Fotis has been living in Warwick.
The Australian newspaper on Friday reported that Fotis had been arrested at an address in Queensland, however Warwick police and representatives from the Royal Commission would not confirm whether Fotis was the man arrested in Warwick.
Fotis will give evidence in a resumed hearing of the royal commission before commission chairman Peter McClellan on April 28.
