Rose City boxer has night fight in Adelaide
BOXING: Rose City Boxing Club member Jake Wyllie will have his first fight at the nationals tonight.
The current national golden gloves titleholder will meet a boxer from Victoria at 6.30pm at the Magic Millions Pavilion at the Morphettville Racecourse in Adelaide.
If he is to win a national title, Wyllie will need to win three fights in Adelaide between now and the end of competition on Saturday night.
Fellow Rose City member Jacko McMahon went down in a narrow points decision in his first round fight to Callum Adams from Victoria on Tuesday afternoon.
He fought hard all the way in three three-minute rounds.
The Rose City club pair have been mentored by Brisbane heavyweight Joe Goodall in Adelaide this week.
Goodall has been described in media reports as "the next big thing in Australian boxing”. He has been training with the Rose City boxers, joining them at meals and assisting them in the Queensland camp.
