Rose City boy wins Boxing state title
AFTER a runner-up finish in 2014, Rose City Boxing Club member Jacob Wyllie has won his first state title.
Wyllie previously won a golden gloves title but his defeat of current Queensland titleholder Tasman Addo from Cairns to win the title was a new career high for the boxer from Warwick.
He gave his opponent a boxing lesson with his footwork, hand speed and punching power convincingly beating him in three rounds.
Fellow Rose City club boxer Jackson McMahon fought Coner Welsh on Friday night from Noosa.
McMahon took everything that he had been taught into the ring leaving nothing unanswered demonstrating good boxing skills but unfortunately lost in a fight that would have been difficult for anyone to judge.
He lost to the current Queensland title holder.
Wyllie now travels to the Gold Coast on April 26 for a week with the Queensland team to compete for an Australian title.
A support crew of 28 people from Rose City Boxing Club travelled to Brisbane for three days to support the two boxers.
