Runners set for Maryvale event in memory of Andy Wilson

THE third Andy Wilson Memorial Run For A Cure will be held at Maryvale on Sunday.

The event is being organised by the Pentath-run committee with support from the Warwick branch of Cancer Council Queensland.

Andy was a long-time volunteer, fundraiser and office bearer of the Warwick branch of Cancer Council Queensland and a great supporter of all things sporting before ill health struck.

Last year, 85 runners/ walkers were involved at the event which starts and finishes on the street outside the Maryvale Hotel.

This year's event will be the third in memory of Andy.

The field last year attracted some runners from Stanthorpe, as well as Warwick and surrounding areas.

One runner was retired Test and state rugby league player Greg Platz, who went in the event with his grandson, Dawson Wright.

The cost to enter online is $11.75 (individuals) or $22.50 (families) - includes processing costs - or $10/$20 on the day.

The event is being sponsored by Quest Chermside on Playfield and Centro Management.

Registrations from 8am, with start time 9am.

There is a 5km walk, 5km run, 8km run and 12km run on Sunday.
