Saints see off Power in pre-season hitout

ST KILDA held off a fast-finishing Port Adelaide side on Thursday night to record a one-point victory in its first JLT Community Series hitout of the summer.

The Saints led throughout the night at Etihad Stadium but conceded five goals to two in the second half and were ultimately made to work hard for the victory.

Tim Membrey slotted three goals for St Kilda, while Luke Dunstan and Jack Billings also proved to be a threat inside 50 and kicked two goals each.

Karl Amon was the only multiple goal-kicker for Port Adelaide.

Jake Carlisle and Paddy Ryder were both representing their teams for the first time in more than a year after each serving 12-month suspensions.

Carlisle, in his unofficial Saints debut following his 2015 move from the Bombers, was accomplished across half back, while Ryder finished with six hitouts and a goal.

Jack Newnes was St Kilda's most prolific player, recording 24 disposals, as Ollie Wines racked up 21 disposals and 10 tackles in an impressive showing for the visitors.
