Editorial: Warwick Pig and Calf Sale is going strong

THE mood was buzzing yesterday when I went to the Warwick Pig and Calf Sale.
I'm not sure if the huge rise in cattle prices was behind that or not but there was an extra buzz in the crowd.
As many people said to me at the sale, the rise in prices was expected with the recent rain, but no one quite expected the jump we saw.
Others though, expressed concern as to whether the prices were sustainable and whether the price spike could be followed by a strong downturn in prices in the future.
It was the second week back for the sale after the Christmas break and once again there was a strong turnout.
It is great to see many people wandering around enjoying themselves and it is always good to stop and have a chat to various people.
