Coastal visitors surf on up to Warwick's pig and calf

WARWICK'S treasured Pig and Calf Sale was flooded with visitors from the coast today.

Families and friends from Brisbane and the Gold Coast were strolling through the saleyards.

In among the crowds were friends Shane Mielnikowski and Rod Armstrong.

The Brisbanites consider themselves regulars to the Pig and Calf Sale, making the trip down as much as possible.

Mr Mielnikowski first visited the saleyards three years ago and said it was the people that makes him keep coming back.

"The social aspect is great, everyone treats you as part of the community," Mr Mielnikowski.

During his visit he met Mr Armstrong and local Lauren Batterham.

Ms Batterham and Mr Mielkowski bonded over their trades in metal finishing and metal recycling.

"It's always a pleasure coming here but you have to tie in some business as well," Ms Batterham said.

"We find a lot of things here to collect that can be restored."

Mr Mielnikowski and Mr Armstrong agree the saleyards is worth the drive.
