Salon awards add extra gloss

LOCAL businesswoman Clare Jeffries is still smiling after her salon shone at the Business Excellence Awards.

Hair Together and True Beauty claimed a hat-trick: the overall award and the presentation and marketing category award, as well as the people development category last Saturday night.

Mrs Jeffries said her initial reaction had been disbelief, and then excitement.

"The night was brilliant, real credit goes to the Warwick Chamber of Commerce," she said.

Mrs Jeffries said she did not expect to win, and had definitely learnt a lot in the nomination process.

"In the process, you can see where your business is at, and what needs to be worked on," she said.

"Owning a business can be very challenging, but very rewarding at the same time."

A hairdresser for 46 years, Mrs Jeffries has lived in the Rose City her whole life, and supports the future generation of hairdressers in Warwick.

"We've put about 30 girls through apprenticeships here," she said.

"You can really see them develop their skills.

Mrs Jeffries said she couldn't run the salon without the support of her loyal staff.

"My girls work so hard, they're so dedicated," Mrs Jeffries said.

"I really do appreciate everything they do.

"It's a team here, but it feels like a family."

The hard work doesn't stop there - this weekend the salon will also be celebrating 22 years of operation, as well as being a finalist in the De Lorenzo ASPIRE Salon of the Year and Marketing Excellence of the Year categories.

The competition will be judged on Saturday night at Hamilton Island.

It is looking to be a huge event, with the salon's very own promotions manager Storm Lahiff being chosen to be part of the De Lorenzo Vision Team.

With only two contestants chosen throughout Queensland, Ms Lahiff said it was a great opportunity.

"We will also do a fashion show on the night," she said.

Hair Together and True Beauty have been chosen as a finalist because they align with De Lorenzo philosophies of using all-natural products, which is proudly Australian owned and manufactured in an environmentally responsible way.

Results of Salon of the Year will be released next Monday evening.
