Sarina angel granting a wish for a boy in need

FROM one 10-year-old to another, a Sarina boy is using his free time to grant a Christmas wish to someone in need.

When Damon Insch went on school break, he decided to use his love of arts and crafts to make paper angels with his two friends.

After searching online, Damon found the story of Spencer through the Make-A-Wish Foundation website.

Spencer suffers from Cardiofaciocutaneous Syndrome, which means he's unable to walk by himself and needs help to dress himself and go to the toilet.

Damon knew right away he wanted to help, and decided to sell paper angels to help Spencer achieve his dream of riding in a rainbow coloured hot air balloon.

"At first I liked making paper angels and I thought it would be a nice thing to give it to a charity," Damon said.

"I thought of the other kids and I thought it would be a nice thing to do, to give them something.

"I saw Spencer and he was my age and he wished to ride on a rainbow hot air balloon.

"I think we've made about 50 paper angels, but if they all run out, I'll try to make some more."

Damon has been selling the paper angels at Shaznics in Sarina, as well as Beach Road Fitness.

The angels sell for $4 and so far have raised about $150.

This is the first time Damon has raised funds for charity, but he planned to do another in the future.

"I'll definitely do it again, but I think I'll try something new next time."
