SATURDAY: What's on at Jumpers and Jazz today?
COOK LIKE A PRO
PAST MasterChef contestants Sam Goodwin and Mimi Baines will be outside the Warwick Post Office cooking easy to learn recipes from local produce.
There will be three demonstrations throughout the day at 11:45, 12:45 and 1:45. It's a free event fun for everyone to enjoy. This will be a first for the festival as it introduces a new experience, Celebration of Local Flavours. Highlighting the best the region has to offer.
STROLL 'N' SWING
BACK in the street by popular demand, with two stages of live jazz to create the vibe while you wander through the Suitcase Rummage. Local wine, produce stalls and kids zone you'll find as you venture down Palmerin St.
FLOWERS AND JAZZ
BE SWEPT up in the sound of Jeff Usher Jazz as he performs at the front of Just Because Gifts and Flower. Jeff will show of his piano skills between 9.30am and 2pm. It's free to listen and browse the shop for a quirky festival find.
ALL ABOARD
PUT on your best vest and elegant gloves and be transported to a different time. Join the Southern Downs Steam Railway Association on a heritage train ride. Travelling in a vintage wooden carriage, pulled by a powerful steam locomotive the journey will take you back to memories of family trips. The first train leaves at 10am and returns at 11am. Tickets are available at the Lyons St Station and are $30 for adults and $15 for children. Jazz bands will be on the platform entertaining passengers as they board.
ARTIST TALK
JOIN Yarntopians coordinator Loretta Grayson to learn about the process of creating a yarnbombing installation from initial ideas to finished product. For a gold coin donation meet the creators behind some of Warwick best woolly designs. The session starts at 10am at the Warwick Art Gallery.
POP-UP CHOIR
BE a part of an instant choir, no singing experience is necessary, it's all in good fun. Spend a fun two hours learning to sing delightful harmonies and then take them to the street for a guerrilla performance. Community music leader Jane York will be at the Warwick Town Hall from 10am and the performance starts at midday. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children.
JAZZ LOUNGE
COSY up at the Warwick Town Hall as it transforms into the swankiest place in town. From 1pm Jazz music will flow through the historic building and the lovely staff will be serving the finest local wines and cheese. Tickets are available on entry and are $10, guest receive wrist bands and can return throughout the day as they please.
HOLLY JAZZ
INTERNATIONAL performer Rob McWilliams is performing at the Uniting Church on the corner of Guy and Fitzroy Sts. The two hour show starts at 2pm. For tickets call Barbara 07 4661 8559 or Lynda 0459 440 289 Adults $20pp Family $40 Afternoon tea optional.
REAL MEN KNIT
MEN head down to the Criterion hotel from 3pm, grab a beer and a pair of needles and improve your Jumpers and Jazz game. Learn from Warwick's very best knitters and you'll have a scarf in no time.
MUD TALKS
THE talented group at the Warwick Potters Association have put together an exhibition of their finest works. Hands Together in Clay showcases the work of local talents, new and old. All pieces on display are up for sale to help raise money for the craft group. The doors open at 10am at Potters Place, 63 Horsman Rd.
TOWN WALK
LAST chance to attend national champion, Bob Townshend as he leads a walking tour of Warwick pointing out places of interest and sharing a good yarn along the way.
Meet at the Town Hall at 11am and have a gold coin donation ready.
POP-UP CRAFT SHOP
FIND out what the wonderful ladies at the Warwick Spinners and Weavers group will be making today and learn a trick or two yourself. They will be at Cafe Jacqui's from 10am to 2pm selling handmade garments to keep you warm this winter. 10.00am - 2.00pm
TREE JUMPERS
MEET The Warwick Art Gallery director, Karina Devine at 11am sharp for a guided tour of the Tree Jumper Exhibition. Learn the history of Jumpers and Jazz and the stories behind the artworks. The tour takes an hour at a slow pace and only costs a gold coin donation.
