Sausages set to hit the barbie
FORGET leg hams and lamb roasts, snags and steaks are the popular picks for this year's Easter table.
"Anything to do with the barbecue, especially sausages, is popular this time of year" butcher Paul Carey said.
The boys at Carey Brothers have been busier than ever this Easter season, with locals stocking up ahead of the long weekend.
"Christmas is probably our biggest week of the year but, after that, it's Easter," Mr Carey said.
There has been no specific cut that customers are favouring this season.
"It's not like Christmas time, where everyone gets a leg of ham," he said.
"No one thing outsells the other, it's mostly steaks, steakettes and sausages."
Mr Carey forecasts that sausage sales will increase leading into the Easter holiday.
"We have about eight different flavours of sausages here," he said.
Mr Carey recommended the chunky cheese and shallots and black pepper for Warwick customers looking to try something different.
"They're all really nice flavours," he said.
"We make them here and all the meat is local."
To top it off, most of the beef in shop this week comes from the Warwick Show champion steer.
"We bought the champion of the show last Friday, so we like to think we're selling the best of the best this week."
