Save council public housing

SAVE Our Shire Action Group members are not impressed with the Southern Downs Regional Council's move to sell off pensioner housing units across the region.

Members raised their concerns during the group's recent meeting.

"It is a shabby way to treat our senior citizens," SOSAG chairman Bob Johnson said.

"It was even done in-camera so that the public and the press could not be privy to the proceedings and the reasons for the decision.

"It shows just how distant these decisions have become from those they really affect."

The group meets monthly in Stanthorpe's St Paul's Hall in Corundum St on the first Thursday of the month at 7.30pm.

New members, even councillors, are welcome - information from Mary Rofe 0427 617 679 or Bob Johnson 4681 0871 or 0432 950 645.
