Scam caller fails to take ‘easy option’

"JEFF" called me this morning to tell me my internet was about to be cut off because of "suspicious activity through my IP address".

Thanks Jeff - adorable. When I hung up on him he attempted to call me back!

Mum was contacted last night by a woman claiming to be from the government and offering her $7265 in government repayments in bank fees.

All she had to do was send them $250 through the post office (which went to an o/s law firm because "they're cheaper") and they would arrange the refund.

When mum said it was a scam, they gave her a Sydney phone number and the names Rose Brown or Peter Clark to contact for confirmation.

When she did, the lady Rose sounded just like the original caller.

Mum said send the $7000 and keep the $265 and they said they couldn't do it that way.

It is of course a scam and mum (who has been scammed before) was able to spot the signs, and it's been reported to ScamWatch, but it seems they may be targeting elderly people in particular.

Does Warwick need any off-leash dog parks?

Cecil Barnard: I see no reason why not. What is this obsession with keeping dogs on a leash? Not good for the dog. I am a dog owner, and love walking. It is time we open up.

Jake Joseph: Put one at the shopping centre so they don't have to hang out at the front of the shops all day everyday

Marijke Boon: Yes please, Warwick need a park for the dogs, But please clean up after your dog.

Clare McHugh Von Stieglitz: Why not make a deal with the lure coursing people who run their event at Henry Joppick park, Warwick in an already dog-proof field?

Shirlena Wright: I know Warwick Animal Welfare Association looked into this a year or so ago, but couldn't get it up and running. I'm unsure what the reasons were, whether it was finding or positioning, I don't know.

Abby Haynes: YES!!

Cate Hartnett: Fantastic idea ...

Darryl Evans: According to Jane O'Dowd on Facebook you dont need a park, you need to stop the owner punching his dog in ivory lane

Donna Hodgson: Yes and like to have one in Stanthorpe as well too.

Anthony Brennan: Yes, along the river adjacent to the hockey fields.

Diana Cockram: Condamine River would be excellent on the east side.

Maree Smith: Have to agree with Dean Palin

Franky Horton: As long as people pick up the poo

Sarah Crook: Isn't there already one up near the cemetery?

Cathy Firth: Yes definitely

Katie Gleeson: The Warwick community and their dogs, along with visitors and their dogs would benefit from and make use of an off-leash dog area.

Heidi Adams: We definitely need a dog park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My dog loves going out, but he has nowhere to strut his stuff haha.

Kate Lubben; Moving here from Sydney, an off lead fenced and shaded dog park is what my dog and I miss most.
