School run a hit with students
THE war cry of Quinn House would have been heard a block away at the presentations for the annual cross country at Warwick East State School on Wednesday.
Cross country organiser Trevor Nelson paid tribute to students who participated.
“Ninety nine per cent of children nine years and older went in a competitive or non-competitive cross country run,” Nelson said.
“We had more students running than last year.”
After the cross country, nine Warwick East students were congratulated on being selected to compete in the Southern Downs Cross Country Carnival at Allora on May 18. All made qualifying times.
The nine who will run at Allora are Jackson Walsh, William McDonnell, Jordan Piovesan, Mitchell Hoffman, Dion Doro, Lachlan Moore, Hayley Roche, Elizabeth Mulliss and Lilly Rayner.
A Southern Downs team will be selected after the Allora carnival to compete in the Darling Downs championships. A regional team will then be selected for the state championships.
In the battle for house supremacy, Quinn won with 148 points from Harwood on 142 and Garland on 103.
