Boys earn place in regional squad

SEB Russell-Sharam and schoolmate Harry O'Shannessy have earnt selection in the coveted Darling Downs Schoolboys' under-15 rugby union side to compete at the Queensland Championships next month.

The Scots PGC College duo made the squad for the second consecutive year and will run on as fullback and halfback respectively.

Last year the Year 10 students made their debut in the representative school team as 14-year-olds.

For Russell-Sharam, the experience was particularly rewarding with the Warwick junior receiving man of the match awards and the 2008 Darling Downs side's best and fairest player at the state carnival.

The duo now heads to the Queensland Championships in Hervey Bay in August.

It is the second representative honours the pair have earned this year. They also secured places in the Darling Downs under-15 club side recently.

The team finished fourth in the state club championships played in Brisbane over the June-July school holidays.

Warwick high student Jesse Stevens also earned his first representative jersey this season after just over six months playing union.

The outstanding - if slightly inexperienced - front rower made the under-16 Darling Downs side.
