Scots PGC students compete for state in Toowoomba
PONY CLUB: Two riders from Scots PGC College are competing this week in the Australian National Inter-school Equestrian Championships at the Toowoomba Showgrounds.
Bridget Hegerty performed well in her first dressage test in the senior novice competition in Toowoomba yesterday. She was third late in the morning competition with one test to go.
Holly Wickham was second early in competition in the pre St George secondary dressage class. She will compete again tomorrow in the advanced class in dressage.
She has previously competed in the nationals at Werribee in Victoria. Joanna Hagley coaches Hegerty while Thomas Mullenbach coaches Wickham.
Scots PGC Equestrian Centre co-ordinator Sally Keable said she was happy with the early form of the two riders this week.
"We had some riders competing at pony club level last week. Hannah Gordon is a boarder at Scots PGC and competed for Queensland in the pony club nationals in Toowoomba last week and won gold in formal gymhkana,” Keable said.
"College student and Allora Pony Club member Kira Holmes was ninth overall in formal gymkhana.”
Some of the riders from Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania are being lent horses by three Warwick owners to enable them to compete this week without the huge coach of transporting horses. Christine Bradfield has provided three horses for the nationals, Leonie Hegerty one and Sally Keable one.
