Scots welcomes its new young boarders
WHILE many schools started back yesterday, Scots PGC College gave a special welcome to new students before classes officially start for all students today.
The school welcomed new boarding students at the end of 2015 with a transition week.
Among them is Year 6 student Toby Callaghan, one of the youngest to attend the boarding school.
Hailing from Inglewood, Toby said he was eager to start at his new school.
"We left Inglewood this morning - I'm pretty excited but also a bit nervous and sad," Toby said yesterday.
"I'm an only child so I'm used to being on my own, but I've never been anywhere without Mum before.
"I'm excited to make new friends though, and I've already met some of my roommates."
Toby said he had already met his teacher, Mrs Ryan, and was looking forward to joining in with after-school sport and other activities with his fellow boarders.
Having attended Inglewood State School, Toby said he was looking forward to the sports and subjects at Scots.
"I like playing sports - I hope I can play cricket and soccer, and maybe rugby," he said.
"I really like PE, maths and technology, and reading books - I brought some of my favourites, like Goosebumps, from home.
"I think I'll be able to go home pretty often and Mum and Dad will probably come to visit me too."
