Sculpture could settle in park

THE equestrian sculpture could be one step closer to securing its home.

Councillors were told at this week's Community Services meeting the preferred location was on the south-east side of the rodeo chutes at Queens Park.

But while the location was favoured - there was some confusion over the height of the sculpture.

Cr Neil Meiklejohn said he thought the sculpture was six metres high initially.

Cr Jo McNally said she thought it was closer to 20 metres high and the councillors couldn't seem to agree.

A height of three metres was also thrown around but a spokeswoman for the council later confirmed it would stand at the original suggested height of 15 metres from the initial proposal.

"There seems to be some confusion over the height," Cr McNally said.

The location has to be given the thumbs-up by Transport and Main Roads and funding secured before it can go ahead. Council are not funding the art piece, but offering support in-principle.
