SDRC CEO resigns to take position as Ipswich Council CFO

SOUTHERN Downs Regional Council Chief Executive Officer Andrew Roach has resigned as of today and will take up the position of Chief Financial Officer with Ipswich City Council next month.

Mayor Cr Peter Blundell thanked Mr Roach for his two years in the position and wished him well in his next career move.

"I realise there were some big challenges Andrew faced coming into the CEO position and I believe he did a good job of tackling various issues including organisational restructure and implementing cultural change programs.

"Andrew leaves the CEO position knowing he has a strong senior leadership team who can help deliver the programs and services of Council.

"There is still a lot to be done in bedding down the change implemented within the Southern Downs and we will need a unified approach to this, certainly over the next 18 months of this local government term," he said.

Cr Blundell said Council's Director of Business and Community Services David Tuxford will be Acting CEO and will have a handover period with Mr Roach over this week.

"Council will meet this week to discuss the process of recruitment for a permanent CEO," he said.
