SWIMMING: Emma Day was the star of the Warwick State High School swimming carnival this week.

She set new 12 years 50m records in all four strokes and backed up with a new record in the 100m freestyle.

Day won the Gordon Affleck Memorial Trophy for champion swimmer of the meet and shared the Pearl Galloway Cup for champion girl with open champion Nikki Burraston.

The McMonagle Shield for most points for a 15-year-old boy was won by Cody Hoffman.

Kaillum Richmond won the Glen and Joel McMurtrie trophy for the open boys championship and Burraston won the Margaret Reddick Trophy for most points in open girls.

The Reason Cup for champion house of the carnival was won by Cunningham (639 points), followed by Leslie (389 points), Hamilton (382 points) and Barnes (344 points).

Cunningham won the Edgar Blau Trophy for most points in the relay events and also won the Spirit Cup.

Barnes won the student/ teacher relay.

Forty Warwick High swimmers were selected to compete in Border Districts swimming at Stanthorpe today.

The major swimming event of the season, the Warwick All Schools Swimming Carnival, is at WIRAC next Thursday at 5.30pm.
