See who broke records at the WSHS athletics carnival
WARWICK State High School is in fine form in the lead up to the inter-house and Darling Downs athletics carnivals.
The participation rate at the school's inter-house carnival was strong and students have given school selectors a good crop of talent to draw from.
Warwick State High School head of health and physical education Scott Thompson said there were a number of stand out talents.
"Ryan Callow was age champion for the 13-year boys. He is one of the ones we'd identify for a talent for the future," Mr Thompson said.
"From here we select the best athletes to train and go onto inter-school carnivals.
"The Border District Carnival is on August 9 and includes the Warwick schools along with Allora, Killarney, Stanthorpe, Texas, Inglewood and Goondiwindi.
"We're hosting it at Hamilton Oval next Thursday," he said.
The Warwick All-School Carnival will be held the following week on August 16.
"It's a very long running sports association, it was one of the first sports associations in the state," Mr Thompson said.
"This year will be the 97th year it's run."
Students at inter-school and border district carnivals use these events as a spring board for selection into the Darling Downs representative team, which draws talent from Toowoomba as well as the local schools.
Warwick State High School has a long tradition of representation.
"Last year we had a really good representation right through to the state titles," Mr Thompson said.
"We had more than 12 students in that Darling Downs team."
