Seized funds now available to fund crime prevention

LOCAL councils in crime hot spots can start applying for money from the National Crime Prevention Fund.

The Federal Government announced last month it was establishing a $40 million fund using money seized from criminals.

Money from the fund can be used to install closed-circuit television systems and lighting and youth mentoring and outreach programs run by not-for-profit community organisations.

Applications are open and close on May 28. Further information, grant guidelines and application forms are available at www.crimeprevention.gov.au.
