Senior sports awards night on February 19

SPORTS AWARDS: Twelve monthly sports star winners will be honoured at the Daily News/Warwick Credit Union Senior Sports Star of the Year dinner at Kings at the Warwick RSL Memorial Club on February 19.

The senior dinner will be the 24th held to honour the best in sport in the Warwick, Killarney, Allora, Clifton, Inglewood and Texas areas.

The junior awards, which are also sponsored by Daily News and Warwick Credit Union, started in 1993 so this year's junior dinner on March 19 will be the 25th.

The senior awards started a year later with shooter Greg Newey the inaugural overall winner.

All monthly winners will be presented with a trophy on February 19. The sports star of the year will receive $1000 from Warwick Credit Union and the Warwick RSL Club Person of the year will receive $500 from the Warwick RSL for an award based on local performances and volunteer work.

Tickets for the senior sports star dinner on sale at Daily News for $30, $15 for under 12s. All welcome.
