Senior sports star dinner tickets still on sale at Daily News

SPORTS STARS: Interest is hotting up for Monday night’s senior sports awards dinner at the Warwick RSL Memorial Club.

There was a steady stream of people heading to the Daily News this week for tickets and, as is usually the tradition, large numbers of patrons are expected to buy tickets today.

Numbers are needed for catering purposes for the dinner in the re-modelled Kings.

While the awards are sponsored by the Warwick Credit Union and Daily News, the Warwick RSL Club supports the senior awards with a special award, the Warwick RSL Local Sports Person of the Year.

The local award will be based half on local performances in sport and half on volunteer work during the past year.

The overall senior sports star of the year wins $1000 from Warwick Credit Union.

A presentation will be made to all 11 senior monthly winners on the night. There have been almost 50 sports stars of the year at junior and senior levels down the years, including the goalkeeper from Allora, Queensland Firebirds and Australian Diamonds captain Laura Geitz. Information on tickets by calling 46601355.
