Seniors ready to rock at Country Showcase

SENIORS month is still in full swing and will wrap up this weekend in Allora.

The Ultra Golden Country Music association will host a country showcase for the region's seniors on Sunday.

Local country singers will take the stage and a guest singer from Brisbane will kick off the show.

Tickets are $5 and will cover the costs of a lucky door prize, afternoon tea and tea and coffee through out the day.

Club Secretary Carolyn Pierce said it would be a day of fellowship and fun for our seniors.

"It keeps the seniors active and functioning in the community," she said.

"It actually provides a venue for the senior audience to come along and have an afternoon of fellowship and entertainment.

"All the performers you'll be seeing this weekend are over 50 and it keeps them active and interested.

"We're all seniors ourselves."

Some local performers include Daryl and Heather Craft and Classic Country to name a few.

Mrs Pierce said the event usually draws a crowd of 80-100 people.

"It gives them somewhere to go and have a yarn and a cup of tea," she said.

"The club is a fairly thriving little club within the district and endeavours mostly towards the seniors most of the time because we feel we're having a positive input into the community."
