Rose City seniors will see what can make life better at expo

MORE than 30 stalls will line the streets and fill the community hall of Oak Tree Retirement Village tomorrow for a seniors health and lifestyle expo.

Residents have put the call out to all Southern Downs seniors to come and join in the festivities.

Oak Tree manager Jenny Brown said it was a chance for seniors to learn about the range of services on offer, conveniently in the one place.

"It's not just for the residents, but about showing seniors what's out there and how they go about accessing them," Mrs Brown said.

"The council usually hold one like this during Seniors Week, but they're not this year, so Pam Burley from council has been giving me a few tips how to run this one."

Stalls will be occupied by skincare businesses, massage therapists, Blue Care, Men's Shed, Mark Paton Hearing Aid Specialists and a great many more.

Oak Tree social club members will man the barbecue and have a few pots of tea available for visitors.

Mrs Brown said all seniors would be crazy not to take advantage of the expo.

"We hope to see as many as we can here," she said.

"A couple of the residents had asked me about a particular service, and then, once I found out about one, I found out about a whole range of things.

"So thought, 'why not include the public because a lot of seniors don't know what is actually out there?'" Mrs Brown said.

The expo runs from 10am-3pm at 12 O'Leary St, Warwick.

Getting there

  • Heading west on Wood St, turn right into O'Leary St (near West Warwick Vet Clinic).
