Sevens rugby success
RUGBY UNION: Warwick could be a venue for annual interstate sevens rugby following the success of last weekend's games.
Reds Rugby Darling Downs development officer Dan Birrell said discussions were already under way to play more women's interstate sevens rugby games in Warwick in future years.
"The interstate teams had all positive feedback about the visit and the accommodation and meals at The Scots PGC College,” he said.
"The facilities were excellent at Scots PGC grounds and at the Warwick club grounds at Risdon Oval.”
New South Wales beat Queensland three games to one in the four clashes on Saturday but the Queensland team won both Sunday games, which were organised at short notice.
The interstate games were played as a forerunner to this month's nationals in Adelaide and Birrell said playing in Warwick in October fitted in well.
"The only change to the teams for the nationals from the weekend in Warwick will be the addition of the Olympians,” Birrell said.
"The Warwick club and Scots PGC are keen for a junior competition in Warwick in October next year.
"Reds Rugby will do more of the organisation next year,” he said.
"It is likely the carnival held last weekend in Warwick could be held a month earlier next year.”
Scots PGC a winner
SCOTS PGC won the open girls competition after beating Brigidine College in the final.

Scots PGC qualified for the final due to scoring the first try in the drawn boys semi-final against Assumption.
Scots PGC were runners-up in U16 and U14 girls competition.
The Scots PGC U16 team included Tish Kendall, who caught the eye of Queensland women's sevens coach Sione Fokafuka who was also impressed with Eloise Wiles and Kathleen Keogh.
